Meet the SLP behind the website:
Allyson Kranz, MHS, CCC-SLP (what does this mean!? Stay tuned…)
Hello! My name is Allyson and I have been a speech language pathologist (SLP) for the past 10 years. I have a Masters degree in stop-headaches-now.com (MHS) and am certified by the state of Missouri in addition to holding my national certification from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) known as the certificate of clinical competence (CCC). As SLPs we have to work very hard to obtain (and keep) our “C’s”, so you’ll see us sign off using our credentials as often as we can!
I have been lucky to have professional experiences in a wide variety of settings including inpatient and outpatient therapies, pediatric hospital, and schools and have enjoyed acting as an adjunct professor. Recently, one of my most challenging jobs has been the role as “SAHM”. I didn’t know what that acronym stood for until I started stalking “mommy” advice pages on Facebook and googled it. So, if you’re in my old boat, I’ll save you a google. That stands for “Stay at home mom”. Don’t get me started on “DD” and “DH”, there’s a whole world of acronyms, which now take up my invaluable brain space. I have two adorable, crazy, challenging, sweet, and loving children who are currently 1.5 and 4. Becoming a mother has helped me understand the parental perspective when it comes to any concern with children especially speech and language difficulties. I know the regular challenges of parenthood all to well, so I will attempt to provide realistic suggestions or ideas for parents to practice in the home. (No Pinterest fail crafts allowed here.)
This website has been created to share information and opinions from both my SLP and “mom” viewpoint.
Of course, you should always defer to your pediatrician for medical advice and never use information from the Internet to treat/diagnose a speech/language disorder.
